that depends on your taste, i dont like that much suppression, the noise canceling changes the quality of the sound of what im listening to so i prefer to turn it off. i would test them both out with the same sound source and see which one you prefer. noise canceling gives me the feeling of someone squeezing my head, it adds a sort of pressure to my ears when turned on.

They are normally around 100 if you want good ones. The best brand i know of is SHURE which this best buy guy told me about.
